How a Tik-Tok video kickstarted a detailing company
Dae’s Detail in Detroit is the living proof of how a proper social media campaign can kickstart your company. After their Tik-Tok videos got millions of views, clients started pouring in. Marketing managers take note: always listen to your mother.
As so many other people in spring of 2020, Daviant Palmer was bored at home during the first pandemic lockdown. Just to have something to do, he started washing cars in his backyard. At first, only some friends dropped by. Business was slow, but at least he kept busy.
When his mom inspected the premises and saw how much effort her 27-year-old son was putting into detailing, she grabbed her phone and started filming. “I was impressed!”, she proudly says during an interview with local TV station WXYZ. “I thought: people have to SEE this”.

Indeed, they did. After one of her videos on Tik-Tok went viral, the phone hasn’t stopped ringing. The video received millions of views and it was not the last clip that went viral.
Soon, Daviant could open his own detailing shop at Gratiot Avenue. With more than 50 cars a month, he is already thinking of opening a second one.
“You want to be where your audience is”, lectures proud mom Tiffany Jones. The overnight success of Dae’s Detail proves she’s right.
