Take a tour through Sonny’s backroom factory
Sonny’s has just uploaded an interesting video in which they give the viewer an extensive tour through their Hydroflex backroom factory. Based in Savage, Minnesota, the 96,000 ft.² factory hosts the people and the machines that build the famous Aqualab 3 dispensers.
Apart from this important part in the backroom of many car washes Hydroflex also design and produce valves and nozzles for sewer jetting, hydra excavations and industrial cleaning.
In the video, you get to meet the designers, sales women and engineers, like Sola Onadipe who introduced the first robots on the work floor. Like ‘Daryl’, an assembly robot which now builds most of the rotors that end up in Sonny’s nozzles. “It also eliminates risks for repetitive movement-injuries which could occur in manual processes”, Onadipe adds.

We then move onto the designers and get an inside look of how a valve is born from pencil and paper to become a prototype. After this new model has been approved, they go to an extensive test lab. “We torture our new products here”, director of engineering Jaime Erickson smiles.
During Covid times and the accompanying supply chain issues, Sonny’s decided to double their inventory in the last two years, we learn. This prevents saying no to customers and increases reliability.
The most surprising thing in the video is how professional and relaxed all the employers perform in front of a camera. At Carwashpro we see many behind-the-scenes videos, but this 10 minute tour through the back room really stands out.
