Austrian high-speed blow dryer Airffect further improved

Seeing is doing.

After it’s successful launch the self-service dryer from Airffect is now entering its second round of deliveries with a slightly improved model. According to the Austrian company the demand for the innovative device is strong. At 450km/h, the hand dryer blows droplets out of every nook and cranny of a newly washed vehicle.

Despite the ongoing difficult situation on the world market and the supply problems in the industry, the Austrian company Airffect plans to deliver the next production batch in late February and early March.

“We are currently not affected by delays”, company spokesman Andreas Pasching says to Carwashpro.com. “Our planning for the production of our devices is a long-term process. We purchase the materials and components mostly from German and Austrian business partners. Therefore we do not experience delivery problems.”

Boost sales

For those not familiar with the Airffect dryer here is some background information. At most car washes, customers must either dry the car themselves by hand or drive away with a wet vehicle. Enter Airffect, a hi speed device that dries your car in minutes. And it’s fun too. According to the Austrian company, a dryer in the wash bay can actually increase the amount of customers and sales.

The high pressure dryer from Airffect is suitable for all types of vehicles and can also be used on the rims. The effect of drying with high air pressure ensures a dry result. With the device, vehicle drying also becomes a source of income at the wash bay. The drying areas are occupied for a shorter period of time, since self-drying with high pressure is faster than manually drying with a drying cloth. Customers need about four minutes to dry a mid-range vehicle.

No premium or budget versions

After the first years on the market, one might expect an expansion of Airffect’s product range. But Andreas Pasching thinks otherwise. “We have put many years into the development and market readiness of our self-service dryer. We will not develop any watered-down versions. Nor is a higher-quality premium version an option. Every detail of our dryer has been developed and produced to achieve the perfect drying and operating quality in self-service drying. The Airffect SB dryer is unique in its kind. The necessary air speed and the enormously high air volume require a very high processing quality. Nevertheless, we continue to develop our device when we discover in practice that there is still a need for optimization.”

Improvements

Thus, the current batch of Airffect dryers has been modified slightly after initial feedback from customers. It turned out that repositioning the payment module meant that the operator could empty the coin cassette even more easily.
A new NFC payment module is currently available as an option. This means customers can now pay for their self-service dryers with credit cards, bank cards, Google Pay and Apple Pay. “In our experience, the NFC module ensures an increase in sales of 17 to 22 percent, while additionally simplifying the billing process” states Andreas Pasching. Furthermore, there have also been slight visual changes. The improved LED strips ensure that the Airffect stands out in the dark.

Strong demand in the market

Demand for the current batch of the Airffect remains high. There is some remaining stock available ahead of delivery at the end of February and beginning of March. “We keep receiving inquiries from operators who in turn have been approached by their customers about the Airffect. The self-service dryer is growing in popularity and finding more and more enthusiastic self-service washers who finally have a dry vehicle without having to wipe a cloth over the surfaces.”

Even though demand is currently so high, Andreas Pasching confirmed that carwash operators who are still interested in an Airffect now can be considered for the current delivery.
