Using a discount portal is a good way to bring in new customers at the doorstep of your car wash. The German company IMO Car Wash has experience with online discount portals and is very satisfied with the results.
Car washes have a constant need for new customers. Even regular clients are willing to switch to other car washes, depending on the state of the competition. So how do you bring in these new consumers? Using a discount portal like Couponxoo or Retailmenot is one of the possibilities.


For several years now, Zeynel Wüler, managing director of the IMO car wash in Cologne Bickendorf, has been using online discount portals for car washes. He is fully convinced of this marketing approach. “It’s very practical! This way, not only regular customers always come to the car wash, but also many new faces,” he says, summing up his experience.
In 2020, 426 customers of his car wash purchased a discounted wash via a discount portal and 328 customers actually redeemed the discount code. “Those are super numbers!” says Wüler. He will stick with this strategy again this year and is planning new discount codes. The usage figures, sales and redeemed linens can be designed and clearly evaluated with the help of the discount portals.

Discount for new customers

Discount portals work very simple: a car wash is offered at a discounted price on an online platform and customers purchase their car wash there. Not everyone will actually redeem this wash, as customers often forget about their purchase.
Through the digital platform, a car wash operator has the advantage that the platform does the advertising. This means that customers are reached with offers that would otherwise not necessarily have found their way to the car wash. Of course, a certain percentage of regular customers also take advantage of the discounted offer.

To make a discount code attractive to new customers, it is advisable to discount the premium wash. This way, new customers in particular get the best possible impression of the car wash’s performance, and the shining and shining vehicle is most likely to encourage them to visit again.
