Mister Car Wash remains on top

In 2023 Mister Car Wash topped the list of biggest conveyor car wash companies in the US.

The latest Top 50 List of U.S. Conveyor Carwashes has just been released by Carwash.com. It shows no significant changes in the top 10. Mister Car Wash is still leading the bunch, with Take 5 and ZIPS following close behind. Tidal Wave traded places with Quick Quack, which is now on number six.

It’s a great tradition in the final month of the year. In December, the editorial team of Professional Carwashing & Detailing (Carwash.com) assembled and released a compilation of the largest car wash chains in the US. The list is based on the number of year-end projected tunnel locations.

Saturated market

Just like with the Forbes-list, not everyone who’s on it has responded to the questions asked by the editorial team. In those cases “we rely on publicly available information, such as their websites or recent press releases”, the compilers explain.

Even though many big brands are still growing, the market for new tunnels in the US seems to be saturated in and around some cities. Some brands opened a tunnel in a new location, only to close it a few months later.

Driven Brands (the company behind Take 5) plans to open only 20 new car washes next year. “Given continued weak consumer demand and increasing competition in the US Car Wash sector, we are strategically pausing capital investment in this business”, they communicated in a recent press release.

The Top 10

  • 1. Mr. Car Wash
  • 2. Take Five Car Wash
  • 3. ZIPS Car Wash
  • 4. Wildcat (Club Car Wash / Express Wash)
  • 5. Tidal Wave Auto Spa
  • 6. Quick Quack Car Wash
  • 7. Tommy’s Express Car Wash
  • 8.Spotless Brands
  • 9. GO Car Wash
  • 10. Mammoth Holdings
