CarPro Carwash continues to focus on sustainability with adding solar panels
The Dutch car wash company CarPro Carwash works hard to create more efficient and sustainable car wash locations. In addition to the locations in Best and Nuenen, CarPro Carwash now also has solar panels on the roof of CarPro Weert. This allows the car wash to meet approximately half of its energy needs.
In addition to economic reasons, there are also practical reasons why solar panels are extremely suitable for car washes, says Max Wijlaars (commercial manager) of CarPro Carwash. “In the case of CarPro Weert, the entire roof is now filled with 200 panels (60,000 watt peak). As mentioned, we can provide about half of our energy needs with this. In times of scarcity and overload on the power grid, we thus reduce the grid load by about 60,000 watts per (sunny) day. So we immediately use what we generate, which also has an efficiency advantage compared to netting.”
Corporate responsibility
At CarPro, CSR – corporate social responsibility – is high on the agenda. “That has to do with the fact that we use a lot of natural raw materials. When you can reuse up to 90 percent in the case of water consumption (400 liters per car), this makes a huge difference to the groundwater reserves and tap water. This also certainly applies to our electricity and gas consumption, at the moment three of the four locations no longer use gas and are also equipped with solar panels.”
