Sahara dust hits during Easter
The first noticeable cloud of Saharan dust will hit parts of Europe during the Easter weekend. Car washes should be prepared for extra traffic.
The extended Easter weekend is always a special date for car washes throughout Europe. As the majority of car washes will be closed on Good Friday, the following Saturday usually sees a rush to the car washes. Many drivers want to start the Easter holidays with a clean car.
This year, two waves of Saharan dust are likely to hit parts of Southern and Western Europe. The first wave will hit during Thursday, moving from Portugal and Spain through France towards the northeast. The second wave follows directly afterwards and is centered over parts of the Benelux, northwest Germany and Denmark on Easter Saturday. This dust cloud is only slowly advancing towards the east.
Dust and rain
The dust in the air will also have an impact on the ground, as rain is also forecast in some areas on Friday and Saturday.
The dust cloud will probably lead to extra traffic to the car wash. It might be wise to prepare the facility for the rush and remind the staff at the point of sale of the key points of customer contact. Even if patience may wane when the crowds are high and the queue is long, Easter Saturday could be an ideal day to tell customers a bit more about the Sahara dust and offer high-quality washes with extensive high-pressure pre-washing.
