After a few recent news items where hand car washes in the United Kingdom stood in a negative light, here’s some news that will cheer you up. The city Council of Ipswich has asked a car wash and detailing service to stay open. The reason? Safety.

Mint Hand Car Wash Ltd, which operates on two locations in Ipswich was originally granted permission to operate on a temporary basis, which will expire next week. Local newspaper Ipswich Star reported about the case.

The site where the car wash is located will see a housing project in the foreseeable future. But the building plans have been postponed for at least another five years.
In the meantime the site would stand vacant and most likely attract vandalism and other antisocial behavior. Something the city Council is very aware of.

So they granted Mint Car Wash an extension of their stay on 19 St Margaret’s Green, near Christchurch Park. The hand car wash and valeting service will remain there for the foreseeable future. Mint provides four people with full time employment and has a capacity for 10 cars.
