Three guys from the Dutch carwash industry have recently achieved a special performance. John Moesker from WashTec Benelux and Bas Ham and Wouter Baas from the Dutch carwash company Carwash&Go braved the Alpe d’Huez together to raise money for charity. Their participation does not go unnoticed: “Great champs they are!”.

Owner of Carwash&Go, Borre den Hartog, wants to put his colleagues in the spotlight for their participation in the annual cycling event Alpe d’HuZes, which raises money for cancer research. This tough challenge includes multiple climbs of the iconic Alpe d’Huez mountain in the French Alps, pushing the participants to their limits by cycling or running.

Cheer along

“John Moesker – our regular mechanic for years and practically a family member – came up with the idea to participate,” says Den Hartog. “He cycles a lot and Bas and Wouter were also really enthusiastic. The three of them signed up and started organizing everything. I think that’s fantastic.” To support the initiative, Carwash&Go made a donation to charity and Den Hartog helped to put all facilities in order on site. “A group of six people also came along for support. They didn’t have enough time to train themselves, but they wanted to cheer from the sidelines.”

Den Hartog notes that the industry is responding very positively to the performance. “The nice thing is that when you talk about it with others, people are very enthusiastic. Reactions such as: ‘I also like doing that’ and ‘Maybe we can organize that together from the industry’, I have often heard. That is good news!”

The three will probably get back on their bikes next year, Den Hartog has heard. “That’s why I want to encourage them now, great champs they are! In this way I also hope to be able to help with the preparations for next year, by getting more sponsors to join us.”

WashTec: ‘Thank you’

The WashTec Benelux-team also thanks their colleague John Moesker for crossing the finish line. “We are extremely proud that John defied the Alpe d’Huez to raise money for charity. As a company, we are extremely proud of its commitment to making a difference in the lives of others,” the congratulations read. WashTec also made a donation to support the team’s efforts and sent the WashTec company car on the trip so that the bicycles could be transported safely. “We are very proud of his initiative,” are the closing words in the thank you letter shared on social media. “Thank you for your inspiring journey.”
