“Don’t mess around and think big”. That’s the main motto of Martina Schirmbeck, Managing Director of the Waschpark Neutraubling, south-east of Regensburg, Germany. Our colleagues of Carwashpro.de went by to see how the new car wash is doing.

The Waschpark Neutraubling opened late last spring.  Centerpiece is a 50 m long Holz-Express indoor car wash tunnel with two illuminated lava walls, which ensure an unforgettable washing experience.

This offer is unique in the area south-east of Regensburg.Martina Schirmbeck and her father Johann chose Sonax for their washing chemicals, as the Neuburg-based company was able to convince them with its concept across the board.

Exiting the tunnel, customers then enter a huge covered, 50-meter-long interior cleaning hall. Where 27 vacuum stations and Tornado compressed air units are waiting at them, including 13 mat cleaners and tire testers.

Outside, there are six self-service wash bays and another eight vacuum bays.

Everything is XXL in Neutraubling.

A start in uncertain times

Twelve months of construction and an equally long planning phase lie behind the Schirmbecks and their Neutraubling car wash. And not all the exterior work has been completed yet. “Unfortunately, the opening had to be postponed again and again and was almost impossible to plan”, says Schirmbeck. “Sometimes there were problems with tradesmen, sometimes approvals dragged on. In the end, we were glad that we were able to start at all last May,” the Managing Director says, adding: “It would certainly have been good to have an opening ceremony to draw attention to ourselves on a bigger scale.”

The Holz Autowaschtechnik facility with a water treatment system from Nais is designed for up to 1,200 vehicles a day. In this case, daily indeed seven days a week, including Sundays and public holidays.

A coordinated product concept from Sonax is used for optimum washing results and to support the treatment of the process water. In the Neutraubling wash park, too, the aim is to keep the use of fresh water to a minimum and to use treated process water wherever possible.

Plenty of choice

From self-service car wash to XXL car wash park

In 2016, the company, which has been successfully operating a car parts retail business in Neutraubling for many years, opened its first self-service car wash stations.

The response from customers to this car wash service was so positive that Martina Schirmbeck and her father felt encouraged to implement the XXL car wash project.

This ment they had to think big in many ways. They try to attract customers that live as far as 25 to 30 kilometers away, many of them being commuters. “Our car wash park is conveniently located and highly visible directly on a major thoroughfare in the direction of Regensburg. In particular, many commuters leaving the city in the afternoon stop by,” according to Martina Schirmbeck.

While still building a customer base, corporate customers are also lured, since there are various large car dealerships and garages in the immediate vicinity.

Private customers are tied to the carwash by good service and  bonus cards. Customers are also approached regularly via promotions. In the first three months, the carwash had special opening offers for the premium wash or a savings coupon.
