Salt deposits on car paintwork can have unpleasant consequences. That is why car owners often visit the car wash during periods when road salt is spread. But even in summer, salt (and sand) can damage the car. That is an observation car washes can use in their media campaigns.

Just like last summer, this year’s summer holiday is all about corona. Many people choose to go on holiday in their own country and head for the sea. The traffic jam warnings show that holiday trips are currently often made by private car and towards coast areas.

After the return journey, it is advisable to take care of the car. Especially if the holiday or trip went to the ocean. Sand and sea are everywhere on the coasts. Residues therefore also collect on the paint surface. Once at home, these residues can cause damage without professional cleaning.

Corrosion

“Everyone who has ever been on the sea should have their car thoroughly washed, because sand and salt work on the car and accelerate corrosion,” confirms Michael Kratzer from the German DEKRA in interviews. Often sand also collects in the footwell and the boot. That has to be vacuumed up. In order to avoid unnecessary additional weight and to save fuel, many motorists dismantle their roof racks and transport boxes immediately after their holiday.

The end of the holiday period is the right opportunity to inform customers about the basic cleaning after the summer holidays. Besides professional information about the harmful effects of traces of sand and salt, washing campaigns can also refer to this seasonal event.
