An Indian car wash employee working in the United Arab Emirates just hit the jackpot. Literally. Last Saturday he won Dh30 million (€7.8 million) in Abu Dhabi’s Big Ticket raffle draw.

Kathar Hussain, traded his Indian hometown Tiruchirappalli in 2017 for a car wash in Sharjah, where he earned about €390 a month. Some of this money was sent home every month, where his family lives.

Hussain can now buy his own car wash, and that’s exactly what he is planning to do, he told local newspaper Khaleej Times “I will start my own business here. I will continue to be with people who supported me, like my manager, who helped me a lot at my workplace. Back home, I have two brothers and a sister. I wish to bring them here and live happily as a family.”

Husain is the biggest grand prize winner in Big Ticket’s history. On January 3, there will be another Big Ticket draw. This time the price is even bigger. But Hussain won’t be buying tickets for the draw. “No, I won’t be trying my luck again. Whatever Allah has given me is enough.”
