German car wash CleanCar becomes Covid-19 test site

At the German company CleanCar customers can fill up and wash the car and test for Covid-19. The car wash in Hamburg recently opened a drive-in test site.

“We want to actively help in the fight against the pandemic. Since the start of April all employees in our 28 locations and at the head office have been consistently tested two or three times a week. As soon as more vaccines are available, we will look into the possibilities of offering our staff a jab at the workplace,” says Holger Dörner, CEO of CleanCar.

Ease

The test site at the car wash should lead to more safety for everyone. The German test sites are part of the federal government’s testing strategy. The easier it is for everyone to make use of the free test sites, the more these sites will be used.

The national government has asked companies to support the testing strategy of the federal government. Companies are obligated to test their staff at the workplace. CleanCar has chosen to offer these tests to a bigger audience. People that come to the car wash can also be tested while staying in their car by a specialised team.

Appointments can be made in advance online. “We want to contribute to a better wellbeing and to get back to the old normal”, says Armin Seitz of Secura, the company that does the testing. “A test site at a popular car wash seems to be perfect for everyone to get tested regularly without much effort.”

15 minutes

The result of the test is ready in fifteen minutes and is then sent to the phone of the person who was tested. If the result is positive, the health department will be notified automatically. The person will get a notification to go home and quarantine.

Willet Station & Car Wash in the German town Kiel offers a similar service. Customers can go for an antigen test here as will. Markus Dierk of the company says in local media that this service offers a great return on investment. His gas station was hit hard by the lockdowns and a road blockages nearby.
