Sonax scores a clean streak in German test
When the last drops of the windshield summer cleaner are used up, many customers switch to a winter cleaner. German automotive website Autobild.de recently published a detailed test report in which Sonax Antifreeze+Clear View impressed with the best performance.
In total, eleven ready-to-use winter windshield cleaners were tested by the Auto Bild editorial team. Sonax Antifrost+Clear View ready to use up to -20 °C Citrus was the only product to receive an overall ‘very good’ rating. As a result, the product came out on top in the test and was also the price-performance winner due to its efficiency.
The editors’ conclusion: “No other cleaner achieves the high cleaning speed and intensity of the test winner ‘Sonax Anti-Frost & Clear View’. Sonax achieves the criterion ‘clean windshield’ from the fourth wipe, which corresponds to a cleaned surface of 63 percent. It also scored full points in the ‘antifreeze’ test, with Sonax stating antifreeze protection down to minus 20 degrees on the label. With 93 out of 100 points, ‘Sonax Antifrost & Klarsicht’ received the grade 1.3 (very good). It is also the price-performance winner: at 55 cents per cleaning, Sonax is the cheapest of all the products tested.
Six other cleaners were downgraded, mainly due to lower cleaning performance, but still were rated ‘good’. One product received a ‘satisfactory’ or ‘sufficient’ rating.
Two products in the test field were rated ‘poor’ by the experts. The editors recommend against buying them and even warn about buying the JMC window cleaner: “After wiping, it produces strong, permanent streaks that create a dangerously dazzling film in the dark and in oncoming traffic.”
Sonax secures its lead over other well-known manufacturers with its award-winning formula, which is based on specially developed – particularly powerful and cold-active – cleaning surfactants.
In addition to proven high antifreeze quality, these are the basis for ensuring that the wiper blades remove the typical winter dirt from the windshield thoroughly and without leaving streaks.
As a result, the windshield washer system requires fewer wipe cycles and uses less detergent, minimizing the cost per wash. As a result, the experts from Auto Bild also determine the best price-performance ratio for the test winner from Sonax in the 5-liter canister. The award-winning formula is available in two- and five-liter canisters.
Windshield cleaner – a classic impulse item
At gas stations, windshield cleaner is one of the most frequently purchased impulse items. As soon as the warning light comes on, the next opportunity to refill is taken.
Factors such as price, quantity, brand recognition and product presentation then play a decisive role in the actual purchase decision. A brand that is familiar to the consumer, such as Sonax, can lead to positive impulse purchases.
A sales process is optimized when customers buying a windshield cleaner are referred directly to a car wash. However, members of the industry repeatedly find that the direct sales approach to the car wash is often forgotten.
