Lamborghini and Porsche, please step aside. On social media, the dream car most people are drooling over is the Dodge Challenger.

Researchers at StressFreeCarRental.com, a car rental comparison website, calculated which car brands and models are most frequently tagged on Instagram with the hashtag #DreamCar. They found that the American “muscle car” tops the list as the car most bragged about. Even more than European car brands such as the Lamborghini, Porsche or Mercedes.

Here’s the top 10 dream cars on Instagram, based on the percentage of posts with #dreamcar.

1) Dodge Challenger (22%)
2) Lamborghini Aventador (21%)
3) Mercedes G-Class (18%)
4) Porsche GT3-RS (12%)
5) Mercedes CLA AMG (10%)
6) Bugatti Chiron (6%)
7) Audi R8 (5%)
8) Ford Mustang (4%)
09) Nissan GT-R (2%)
10) Volkswagen Golf R (2%)

The American favorite is the preferred car of numerous stars, including singer Billie Eilish, actor Arnold Schwarzenegger and rapper Snoop Dogg. The Challenger narrowly beats the Lamborghini Aventador, which takes second place with 21 posts of dream car posts on Instagram. Third comes the Mercedes Benz G-Class, a German-made SUV, with 18 percent of posts. Mercedes is the only manufacturer with two cars in the top ten, and they can rightfully claim to be the most tagged manufacturer when it comes to dream cars.

European cars most sought after

Although the title of most tagged dream car was won by an American car, there are only two US-built cars in the top ten. Europe produces more sought-after cars than any other continent, with seven of the top ten coming from European countries.

A spokesman for StressFreeCarRental.com says the results of the list surprised him. “Instead of a long list of supercars, we found that many of the cars that people label as their dream cars are very affordable. It was interesting to see the Dodge Challenger reflected in so many posts. Judging by how many superstars are fans of this car, it really is the car of the moment in the US.”
