Squeeky Clean sees four vacuum cleaners being ‘abducted’

Thieves left a damage of at least $ 9000.

Not a great month for a Squeeky Clean Car Wash in Bellevue (Nebraska), after thieves decided to steal not one but four vacuum cleaners, only for some coins. At a total cost of $9000.

According to a news report by 6 News Wowt, the intent appears to be breaking into the change holder. But if they do not succeed right away, they decide to simply take the whole machine. “They take it home and pry it open”, said Hannah Holguin, the owner of Squeeky Clean Car Wash.

The theft left Holguin at least $3,000 in damage. And that’s just tearing out a vacuum, not to mention the cost of replacing the base.

This is the third coin vacuum stolen in about a month from Squeeky Clean and the mounting losses don’t make them nickel and dime thefts. The replacement costs are estimated at more than $9,000.

No insurance

The Squeeky Clean Car Wash in Nebraska is not insured for this kind of damage. “There’s no plan to get them replaced”, said Holguin. “Fortunately, we still have eight vacuums still here.”

Together with her husband Sal, she bought the car wash about two years ago. “They are stealing our livelihood when they steal these vacuums,” Sal says.  “This is one of the ways we generate the money here.”

The Holguins suspect the thieves steal the coins and afterwards sell the damaged vacuums as scrap metal.
