Naspro: from Covid-disinfection to a detailing company

It doesn’t happen every day we come across an interesting article about a successful car wash in….Bangladesh. Naspro Auto Detailing started out as a disinfection firm in Covid times but now has 15 skilled staff members.

Back in 2020, when the pandemic was still very much around, two young entrepreneurs started a disinfection company on a parking lot in Gulshan, a posh neighborhood of Dhaka where many of the embassies and exclusive clubs are situated. Hence many ex-pats, ambassadors and selected hotel guests started using the service.

Post-covid rebrand

When Covid-19 waned and the demand for disinfection started to disappear, the two business owners rebranded their company as Naspro and started to focus more on car washing and detailing. “None of us is from an automobile engineering background”, says CEO Kazi Mominuddin Ahmed in an interview with TBS News. “We had no expertise in this field. But we had an idea about the market and the convenience the city dwellers sought. It was a pilot project that worked out brilliantly.”

Kazi came up with the idea when he was traveling in France and saw there was a market for car detailing. When he came home he decided to introduce it in Bangladesh. From two to three cars a week, Naspro currently manages nearly 600 clients per month and has grown to 15 staff members.

Oil & tyres

Naspro not only offers car washing and detailing but last year also introduced mechanical services such as oil and tyre changing and brake fluid renewal.

At first, most clients consisted of private car owners. But lately is has shifted more towards chauffeur-driven cars, indicating higher trust among owners. While the drivers venture out to the nearby shopping center, Naspro cleans their cars. “Our motto is to give any car service within 30 minutes.”

The services are categorized into two sections – express and premium. The express car wash (25 minutes) costs Tk600 (€5), whereas the premium (75 minutes, Interior + Exterior) is priced at Tk1,400 (€11,60). They also offer ceramic coating and nano polishing.

Future plans

Since the company is growing so fast, Naspro is desperately seeking a bigger location. As they are located at one of the city’s busiest parking lots, the space they have to themselves is limited. Currently there is only room for four (!) cars. One in the wash booth and three for dry wash. But they keep getting requests for more cars, so Naspro will soon move to a bigger studio.
