So how was the German gas station fair?

Plenty of car wash companies in Essen

Essen was the place to be last week. At least, if you were working in the gas station and car wash industry. Our colleagues of Carwashpro.de called the fair-director to look back on the German Tankstelle & Mittelstand, which also saw plenty of car wash innovation.

Several car wash suppliers were present in Essen. Apart from big players such as Christ and WashTec, companies like Istobal, Dr. Stöcker, Ergox, Baptista Carwash Systems, DiBo, Inowa, Car Wash Transmissions, Sonax, BigBrother, Holz and Adriateh were also at the trade fair.

Previously, the Tankstelle & Mittelstand fair was held in Münster. But for the 2023 edition they moved to the heart of the Ruhrgebiet: Essen. “With the new fair concept, we have fifteen percent more exhibitor space”, said Stefan Ziegler, director of Bundesverbandes Freier Tankstellen to Carwashpro.de. He added “it is more airy and modern. The exhibition stands have also been upgraded,” The association is certain the new location means an ‘upgrade’ for the entire event.

Family reunion

Ziegler looks back positively on the fair. “Visitors showed that they are willing to spend money again. Especially in the areas of e-mobility, digitalization, new payment methods and offers in the smoker segment. Exhibitors already gave us feedback during the fair that the Essen fair was like a family reunion for the industry. We are of course happy with that”, he explains.

However, the particularly observant visitor could also notice that there were empty spaces at various points of the fair. “Unfortunately, we had to cancel the fair at short notice and reschedule it as a result. You are never immune to that,” Ziegler said.
