Spanish car wash gets pop-up convenience store

Ghop convenience store Spain

Many car washes have lots of space. But often, not every square meter is evenly used. In Spain they have found a solution for that problem: Ghop. A compact unmanned food and beverage store which can be opened with your phone.

For this new innovation, Grupo Moure teamed up with Spanish startup company Ghop. The first company is a national operator of service stations and car washes throughout the Iberian peninsula. One of jtheir car washes is called the Elefante Azul car wash in Alcalá de Henares (a city just west of Madrid), where the new pop up store was recently placed. The modular storeas a striking resemblance with a converted sea container and consists of 15 square meters filled with food, beverage and other products.

365 days a year

Because Ghop doesn’t require shop personnel (which is hard to come by these days anyway) the shop can be open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. It also doesn’t require any assistance from the car wash staff, since it operates independently through the technology developed by Ghop. When stock of a certain product is about to run low, the software alerts a mobile Ghop-team.

“Our shops are the solution for many companies to complement their services and make their surplus space profitable”, Lino Monteagudo, co-founder and CEO of Ghop, explains. “Elefante Azul is one example but our business can be adapted to any environment such as a university, a transport station, a housing estate or almost any location. Running a shop like this has never been easier.”

Before a customer can make a purchase through Ghop, they have to register on a website. The customer can then access the module to pick up the item they need.

Grupo Moure was founded in 1996. They focus on energy and car wash sectors. Their portfolio includes Elefante Azul, Autonetoil, Petronet and Washnet Factory.
