Mind the duck
A duck is a centerpiece at the latest carwash by the German company Schöner Waschen. They named their new car wash in Grevenbroich “Waschpark zur Ente”, which translates as car wash “to the duck”
According to an interview with manager Arno Kuenen in local newspaper Neue Grevenboicher Zeitung, a duck brings a lot of positive associations. “Many people played with a plastic duck when they were young,” he says.
Furthermore, the logo of his other carwash in the town of Neuss also features a duck. That one is called “Schöner Waschen Neuss and is situated in the Moselstraße industrial zone.
Waschpark zur Ente has opened this week and is found on Gewerbegebiet Ost. It’s an industrial zone in Grevenbroich, a town in the densely populated state of Nordrhein-Westfalen.
Conveyor belt
It offers both self-service car washing and a 40 m long conveyor belt. “We will offer a program with basic, intensive and premium care,” says Kuenen to the German newspaper. After the car wash, drivers can vacuum their vehicles free of charge. Ten indoor bays in the 75-meter-long hall and ten additional outdoor bays will be available for this purpose. Four employees are able to be of assistance, should customers need any help.
The car wash was built by Kuenen’s own construction company “Arno Kuenen Rohrleitung, Tief- und Straßenbau” in Korschenbroich. According to the 51-year-old entrepreneur, the total cost for the project was around two million euros.
He is planning on erecting a giant yellow duck in the future, which will form the ultimate billboard for his car wash.
