Shell becomes Uno-X

The Shell-station in Amager has become Uno-X

Car drivers between Sweden and Denmark may have noticed it: a new Uno-X service station near Copenhagen, where a Shell station once stood. It’s part of a big transition in Denmark, where 57 service stations change ownership. Including car washes.

A number of Shell gas stations in Denmark will become Uno-X in the coming months. The reason is that the agreement Shell had with Norwegian Reitan (who owns the stations) expired.

Reitan uses the expiration of the agreement to get its own gas station chain Uno-X in its place. Often, it will be in combination with 7-Eleven, which Reitan also operates in Denmark.

The opening of the new Uno-X station on Amager late last month was marked with a discount on car washes for a month and free coffee.

Claus Gottlieb, Marketing Director at Uno-X Mobility, is excited about the new Uno-X station in Copenhagen: “We want to make it easy to be a Uno-X customer. And with 279 stations across the country, we now deliver on our promise even better. We have previously focused on unmanned stations, but the opportunity to be neighbors with 7-Eleven in selected locations is obvious, as it is hard to think of a convenience offer that is easier than 7-Eleven.”

Old cards still valid

Uno-X also confirms that the car wash key can still be used in the car wash and that Shell Card Erhverv/Q8 Erhverv cards will continue to be accepted at the station. This ensures that existing services can still be used and are available to customers.

“We have been looking forward to launching the partnership with Uno-X and are looking forward to welcoming hopefully many happy customers to our store. We can see that customers appreciate our service, the large selection of beverages, bakery and delicious food that is easy to take on the go. We hope that the new simple fuel concept will make the experience for our customers even better,” says Jesper Østergaard, CEO of 7-Eleven Denmark, which like Uno-X is part of the Reitan Group.

Back in 2006, the Reitan Group also acquired HydroTexaco, which today has become Uno-X.

With the many new stations, Uno-X is the second largest station chain. The conversions of the new stations started at the beginning of January 2024 and are expected to be completed before the summer.
