Dutch company De Wasbeer welcomes camping vehicles

To prevent long lines, new wash boxes have been added to De Wasbeer. De Wasbeer

Dutch car wash company De Wasbeer recently installed four new wash bays, including one for campers and other large vehicles. Thanks to this expansion, the car wash in the north of the Netherlands can now welcome more customers. “The long lines are gone,” says owner Dave Santing.

Santing runs the business together with his little brother, Wesley Santing. In addition to a 48-meter chain car wash, a vacuum square and three wash bays, the car wash has recently been expanded with four new wash bays. In addition, the three older wash bays received an update. All of the wash bays are from WashTec.

In the summer, the car wash sees lots of tourists coming in. often with caravans or a camper. The Northern part of The Netherlands attracts tourists from the densely populated west of the country as well as from Germany and Belgium.

Because of increasing traffic, the brothers decided to expand. Dave: “The lines were so long at one point that customers were driving away again, which is a shame of course.” With the arrival of the new wash bays, those long lines have now disappeared. “There is always a wash bay free now. In addition, the quality is better and the water pressure is just a bit higher, and that also works in our favor.” The wash boxes are unmanned and open 24/7.

The color red

A conscious decision was made to let the color red dominate the wash bays. “In fact, the car wash building is also red with dark gray. We also recently started using red vacuum cleaners, which gives the whole thing a recognizable look.” Instead of a concrete floor with a foundation, a basement was built under the wash bays, with slatted floors installed. This requires much less cleaning work, according to Dave. There is an overflow in the basement that leads to a sump and oil separator and continues to the sewer system.

Two wash stalls can accommodate larger vehicles up to 3.80 meters (12,4 ft). This makes it possible for customers with a camper or caravan to come to De Wasbeer for a wash. In addition to these raised wash boxes, a platform has been installed, which allows customers to easily clean the roof.

Clean dog, clean car

A Dog Wash from iClean is the most recent addition to the car wash. It’s good for traffic within the business, according to Dave. “Customers who come to wash the car naturally see that there are other things to do as well. Or vice versa: customers who have washed the dog are also more likely to clean the car.”
