No new car washes in Oman capital
A major setback for entrepreneurs who were thinking about opening a car wash in the emerging market of Oman. For the time being, the city of Muscat won’t issue any new permits.
The city council in the capital took the decision after ‘negative impact from the practice of such activities on public health’, an article in the local newspaper Muscat Daily learns. It ‘s not immediately clear what the authorities mean with this rather cryptic description.
The municipality stopped issuing licenses for cleaning and polishing vehicles in residential and commercial buildings.The decision doesn’t affect petrol stations or industrial areas.
For the existing car washes, the municipality said is it granting them five years to rectify their status.
