The days when a car wash was just $0.50

A reliable and cheap wash Good Sight

We came across this vintage picture of an Australian car wash machine from the 70s and is simply too good not to be shared. Does anyone remember the Robo-Wash?

Back in 1968, the company Good Sight was among the first suppliers of automated car wash equipment in Australia. One of their big sales successes was the Robo-Wash, a simple automated machine which basically sprayed down your dirty car, top to bottom.

The cleaning took two minutes at the most and cost only half a dollar. The machine was developed in Colorado in 1966 and became a big hit in both the USA, Canada and Australia. The iconic road signs started popping up everwhere.

The famous Robo-Wash sign.

There are several fan sites dedicated to this wonderful machine. Like this and this one.

Nowadays, Good Sight is one of the key players down under. This year the Wetheril Park-based supplier of car wash equipment just gave their heavy vehicle wash an upgrade. By opening a separate website around the specialized equipment, needed for this job.
