A British car wash employee got the scare of a lifetime last month, when he opened the trunk of a client while washing his car. A roped man, wearing only his underwear and a gag in his mouth, jumped out of the trunk and ran away.

Luckily, it turned out to be a prank. News media sites like SWNS and The New York Post wrote how British builders’ merchant manager Gary Stephenson (38) wanted to welcome the new neighboring car wash business in an unforgettable way,

Gary decided to put his friend Chris Peacock in the back of his car and drive up to the car wash. The Tiktok video he posted afterwards already had millions of views and tons of reactions.

Stephenson told the SWNS journalists what drove him to the plan. “I go through the car wash lots of times, and when they were opening my boot to clean, I thought it’d be funny if someone jumped out”, he explained.

“I was quite nervous about how it was going to go. I don’t know these lads, so I didn’t know how they were going to take it. They could have kicked off or rang the police,” he noted.

Hefty fine

We know from previous, similar pranks, the police normally don’t take kindly to this sort of street humor. When someone reports the alleged kidnapping to the police, and an armed task force shows up, things can get rather nasty. Or at the very least, the pranksters might get a hefty fine.

None of the above happened, though.

The prank turned out to be a bit unpleasant for Peacock though, who was standing in his underwear next to a busy road while being mocked by passing drivers.

The owner of the car wash also reacted to the TikTok-video and said “this is by far the best prank that has happened to my carwash.”
