With an investment of a whopping $1 billion (1.000.000.000 dollar!) the American Pilots Company is planning on upgrading its 400 stores in the next couple of years.

The ambitious project is called New Horizons and marks the company’s largest investment in store modernization to date. Pilot plans to remodel and re-furnish more than 400 Pilot and Flying J travel centers, as well as make upgrades at several more locations across the country.
New Horizons should be completed within the next two years, according to the Knoxville based company.
“For 63 years, we’ve been proud to fuel millions of journeys and as we have done since our founding”, recently said to Petrol Plaza when asked about the ambitious plans. “We will continue to evolve the travel center experience to meet the changing needs of our guests and team members.”

Feedback

The remodel plans are based on guest and team member feedback. It includes top to bottom store overhauls, remodeling restrooms and showers, expanding kitchen and dining areas, improving driver-focused amenities and installing the latest in fueling and retail technology. Pilot company also plans to expand their digital engagement with clients.
“We are listening to what our guests want most at our locations and how we can improve our offerings to make their travels easier”, added Konar.
The New Horizons project is so ambitious it will take several phases before it’s completed. The first phase has just started with more than 50 Pilot and Flying J travel centers getting a makeover before the end of 2022.

Pilot Company merged with Flying J in 2010 and is now ranked the 10th largest privately-held company in America.
