Car scanning company Twinner opens in Berlin
Those who want to get a digital twin of their car should head to Berlin, where Twinner just opened its first store. Their 3D-pictures should make it easier to sell a vehicle on the secondhand market. Rule number one: show up with a clean car.
To enable the best possible 3D-scan of a vehicle, Twinner recommends that its customers give their cars a thorough wash before scanning, including detailing the interior.
Therefore, the company has made several cooperative agreements with car washes in the immediate vicinity of their store. While it is up to customers to prepare their vehicles in the best possible way, Twinner always provides helpful tips on what customers should keep in mind when cleaning their vehicles.
Twinner makes a digital 3D-copy of the car. Both the interior and the exterior are completely captured with a scan. The whole process takes about 90 minutes. Prices range from ā‚¬59 to ā‚¬149.
Used cars
But why should you want this? “We have three target groups for our service”, says Silvan Rath, CEO of Twinner. “First of all, enthusiasts who want a beauty shot of their car. Then it’s also used by car sellers who want an automatic and professional listing on the used car portal AutoScout24; and finally, companies with fleet management.”
The used car market is currently under high pressure. New cars are still in short supply and demand for used cars is high. So basically, these are good conditions to sell a used car at a good price. But finding and negotiating the best price is often difficult for consumers. “Our customers want to sell their car and not just rely on gut feeling when negotiating the price. With our car scanner and vehicle valuation, both seller and buyer can be sure they have found the best price for a vehicle,” explains Rath.
When the pilot project in Berlin proves successful, more stores will be opened in the future. The requirements are quite simple: “A new Twinner location can be established anywhere where a certain volume of cars is traded. We are currently planning service expansions and are considering offering car washes and smart repairs from local partners in the future,” says Silvan Rath, summarizing his plans.
