AMC Rambler gets its first wash in 33 years

Do not try this at home! Nor in the car wash. WD

If you like car detailing videos, YouTube is a goldmine. Ever so often we come across one that’s a bit special. Like this video by WD Detailing. They found a forgotten AMC Rambler which got its first wash since 1990.

The American detailing company WD runs a popular YouTube-channel with weekly posts. Heavily sponsored, but still quite interesting if you are into detailing.

The AMC Rambler 400 (a car from the sixties) turns out to be a typical ‘barn find’. It hasn’t seen a bucket and sponge since the early 90s. Instead of driving on the road it turned out to be a shelter for some mice and even a dog. And it shows.

The soft top is mostly gone, the tires seem crackled and there are big holes in the bottom. Nevertheless, WD is able to get it in pretty good shape, at least cosmetically.

Inside cleaning

The most extraordinary element of this video is the use of a high-pressure lance INSIDE the car. The steering wheel suddenly reveals its true beauty (it’s made from wood). But we’re not sure if the radio will still work after the high-pressure treatment. We strongly advise car wash owners against doing the same with modern cars.
