Halloween

When car washing becomes entertainment

Halloween is getting closer and so are the monsters around your car. Many car washes around the world dress up for the occasion, hoping to make some extra profit. But it’s not enough to hang up some fake skeletons and put on a latex mask. Some brands invest a fortune each year in their ‘hauted car wash’. And it pays off.

One of the most well-known Halloween car washes in the US is found in California. The Hauted Car Wash   -sometimes dubbed the Tunnel of Terror- even has its own website and social media outlets. It is set up by Big Wave Car Wash in Orange County and Carwood Express in Lakewood.
“A way to enjoy the spooky season”, is one of the taglines of the two car washes. For $30 you might get the scare of a lifetime.

Tunnel of Terror

One of the bigger players in the ‘Halloween car wash scene’ is Tommy’s Express Car Wash. Many of their washes will transform into a spooky tunnel of terror in the coming weeks. From Arkansas till Nebraska and from Florida to North Dakota, you can prebook a scary ride. Check all their Halloween washes here.

In Tennessee, Quick Jet Car Wash will once again present their ‘Haunted Tunnel’ from October 20 onwards. Last year, Quick Jet manager Josh Watkins told us he invests a small fortune in his Halloween carwash each year, and according to him it really pays off. “To be honest, I haven’t seen any other car wash that puts in the same amount and effort as we do.”

Two weekends filled with fear.

Quick Jet is making a real effort to be the best.

Canada

In Canada the Halloween-craze around car washing is big too. Many tunnels will transform across the country. But visitors of the Great White Car Wash in Calgary have to find another place to get spooked. There planned Tunnel of Terror in the weekend from 28-30 October got canceled for unknown reasons.

Europe

Germany does not seem so big on Halloween washes. At least, a Google search for Halloween and Waschanlagen only brings back a handful of events, most from years ago. Nevertheless, our German colleague wrote an interesting piece about Halloween and car washing.

In the Netherlands, Halloween car washing is certainly on the rise. Bubbles Carwash in the southern province of Limburg is among the many carwashes that will turn into a wet dripping ghost house by the end of this month. “Do you have nerves of steel? Then head to Bubbles Carwash on Saturday, Oct. 28, for a terrifying car wash”, they promise. The car wash is running a special Halloween wash program, for 15 euros in presale. It’s the most comprehensive wash program for a sharp price. But you have to be willing to be scared to death.
