Arrests after series of car wash burglaries in Germany

Three men have been arrested during a break-in at a self-service car wash in Germany. The gang is suspected of several burglaries in the states of Bavaria and Swabia, often leaving the car washes heavily damaged.

In recent weeks, a series of nocturnal break-ins at self-service car washes have been registered in the southeastern part of Germany.

In the district of the Swabia North police headquarters alone, a total of 15 cases were registered. The break-ins resulted in a loss of more than 45,000 euros and property damage of more than 40,000 euros due to the violent approach of the perpetrators.

In the neighboring police district of Upper Bavaria North, at least 11 similar cases were identified, which are very likely related to the above-mentioned offenses.

Kaisheim

After intensive investigations, police officers were able to arrest three suspects on the 24th of July, immediately after a break-in at a self-service car wash in Kaisheim (Donau-Ries).

The perpetrators had forced their way in and stole about 800 euros in cash from a vending machine. In the process, they caused property damage amounting to just under 4,000 euros.

The homes of the three suspects have since then been searched and investigations by the Dillingen Criminal Investigation Department are continuing to check possible links to other supra-regional crimes.
